Delete that GUID key, then go to Code: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters\Adapters and Code: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces and delete the keys that corresponds to that GUID. no greyed out... I do a fair amount of traveling for work and everywhere I go I need to use my laptop. I right click each of the orphaned NICs & select Uninstall. (Do not uninstall the driver!!!) After that I'm able to go back & rename my NICs.

Do you want to enter a different IP address for this adapter in the list of IP addresses in the advanced dialog box? Delete Network Connection Windows 7 Command Line After doing so, you should now be able to rename the network adapters back to "Local Area Connection". Without renaming this adapter I cannot make this machine work with this software package... It's the same NIC but the OS identified it as a new device.
The system will now re-install and start to label your Lan adapters connections
as local area connection and local area connection 2
